I never, ever would have thought to put oats in a smoothie. I LOVE oatmeal, and I always thought they were meant to be separate things! But then I saw my friend Rachel do it, so I knew I needed to put my own spin on it. And I’m SO glad I did because this came out tasting just like a delicious oatmeal cookie… in smoothie form!
This one is different from the other smoothies I usually make because it isn’t so massive that it overflows out of the jar! But that’s part of what I like about it! The oats also give it a different texture that I like as well.
What You Need:
- 1/2c oats
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2c cashew milk (or almond milk!)
- 1T almond butter
- 1T maple syrup
- 1/2t cinnamon
- 1/2t vanilla extract
- couple shakes of nutmeg
The smoothie will still turn out really delicious if you decide to omit the almond butter! I’ve made it both with and without it, and I like it both ways! But almond butter always makes things a little creamier and more delicious 🙂
I topped mine with some cereal, but I usually go for almond butter and/or fresh fruit!
